Nuevas Amistades

Spanish Folk and vocal group from Cangas de Morrazo/O Morrazo (Galicia) formed by Paco Piñeiro (replaced by Toni Caamaño), Mario Monroy, Xexo Portela, Berto Peno, Carmina Barranco and Elisa Ocaña. They reached an brief success in a very short time and became popular throughout Spain. They recorded up to seven singles and two LPs in the early 1970s. In 1970 the group won a third prize at the International Miño Festival, with its song "Cantigas das Fontes". At the end of that same year the band exploded at the Spanish International Festival of the Song of Mallorca, with the song "La balada del marinero (The ballad of the sailor)", awarded with first prize on lyrics and second on music.
His bet was always firm for singing in Galician in some difficult years.
Problems to make the works of its components compatible with trips and band activities, plus some discrepancies with his record company marked the end of this great musical cast.
