Ohtar

Polish black metal band from Świdnica, Lower Silesia. Active since 1996, they started up as an NSBM act with their first release, a 1997 demo titled "[m=176579]". Their more recent works (especially post-2003 ones) started to abandon political leanings in their lyrical themes in favour of focusing on more depressive, melancholic, misanthropic, and suicidal themes. Originally split up in early 2012 and formed a new project called "Boundlessness". Reformed in 2014.

The band's name is allegedly referring to "Ohtar", a fictional character created by the writer J.R.R. Tolkien in the mythology of Middle-earth. Ohtar was a rank in the military. The name literally translates from the Quenya language as "warrior".
