About

Overdose, formed in 1983, is one of metal pioneers from the Brazilian region of Minas Gerais. In 1985, at the very beginnings of the band, they released "Século X.X. / Bestial Devastation" - the most famous split-album of Brazilian metal, with Sepultura. It was also the first LP released by the label Cogumelo Records. "Século XX" assured countrywide recognition to the band. Though their first LP was "...Conscience..." in 1987, followed for the album "You're Really Big!" released in 1989 and featuring a melodic heavy metal sound which became of wide acceptance. In 1990 Overdose recorded "Addicted To Reality" LP conceiving their thrash metal sound. At 1992 the band released "Circus Of Death" LP which was the base of various later recordings.

"Progress of Decadence", followed a year later. That album was their most famous effort and also their most exotic album. It was released in 1993 through the U.S. label Futurist. At those times the band developed a consistent mixture between Brazilian folkloric drums, whistles and thrash metal. The lyrics were based upon social problems and desolated landscapes of poverty into the Capitalistic societies. Soon afterwards, the band headed for a world tour, achieving huge success, especially in the US. That success led to the recording of "Scars" LP in 1995, more focused in groove-oriented thrash metal mastery than their earlier album.

Unfortunately, that was also their last album and the band split-up after the tour. They had a brief gathering in 2008 which proved to be unfruitful, but on October 22nd, 2016 the band made their first rehearsal ever since, as it proved popular enough in the social network to make them active again. On February 18th, they'd made their first "official" appearance in front of thousand people in a festival called BLOCO DOS CAMISA PRETA in Belo Horizonte to great acclaim. Footage can be found on the internet.
