About

Swedish eurodance artist residing in Kungsör, born on June 20, 1970 in Fläckebo, Västerfärnebo, Västmanland.

Anneli Magnusson, who grew up in Björkbacken in Skultuna outside Västerås, found a home in music at an early age. When she was 14, she performed solo at a café with songs by Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan. She then attended the music program at [url=https://www.facebook.com/Carlforsskagymnasiet]Carlforsska gymnasiet[/url] where she studied classical guitar and music theory, developing her songwriting talent. Even before graduating, she was recruited by the local music producers [a349388], a group consisting of [a580698], [a575818], and [a653426], who were searching for a singer for their compositions, and she recorded several demos with them. Parts of [a349388] later moved to a record label in Stockholm, providing Magnusson an opportunity to record music in a studio. She adopted the stage name Pandora and released her first album in 1993, at the age of 23.

In 1993, Pandora made her breakthrough with the debut single [m61881], which became the best-selling single in Sweden that year, surpassing other hits such as [m33535]. It also reached charts in Finland, Norway, Denmark, Israel, and Australia.

1996 became an intense year for Pandora. She signed a worldwide record deal with Universal Music GmbH and was their top priority that year. She released her third album, [m61921], produced by the [a349388] trio, and it quickly sold gold and platinum around the world. It was also the year Pandora traveled to Japan for the first time, a country where she was to become the most successful.

The album [m61893] sold over 700,000 copies there. She was awarded the 'Honored Prize' from the radio station [a527995] and from her record label MCA Records in 1996, when her single [r28472539] set a record on the charts, where it remained at number one for six months.

Pandora released two albums per year in Japan between 1996 and 1999 and undertook two major tours with her band in sold-out concert halls, with audiences ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 people. She has visited the country at least 20 times and has participated twice in the country's most popular television program, the Nippon Television show 'Yoru mo Hippare' (Night of the Hit Parade), where she performed live in Japanese.

In connection with a personal crisis at the beginning of the 2000s, Pandora contacted the Lifecenter church in Västerås, underwent spiritual care, and ultimately chose to be baptized. One of the reasons for the personal crisis was that Anneli 'Pandora' Magnusson's husband, who had been her business partner since 2000, was later revealed to be a fraud and put her in financial difficulties.

In 2002, Pandora returned to the European stage after a four-year hiatus, and she collaborated for the first time with Finnish songwriters when she released the album [m443559] through Oy EMI Finland Ab. The album was released internationally in 2003 and was followed by a six-month tour.

In 2007, Pandora was booked for a tour in Finland with 10 performances, which later expanded to over 300 concerts there. Pandora then withdrew for a few years as she needed to focus on her personal life, including a lawsuit concerning tax evasion. Although her ex-husband had taken responsibility – for allegedly evading 1.4 million kronor in taxes between 2000 and 2001 – Pandora was sentenced in 2010 to three months of community service for tax fraud. However, she requested a retrial and was acquitted of the charges in 2016, having paid not only the penalty but also tax surcharges.

In 2015, Pandora was awarded a spot on the Västerås 'Wall of Fame' at the Aros Congress Center. She also partially set aside her music to write an autobiography, which later evolved into an inspirational lecture. Under the title 'Trust me - Who can you trust?', she shared her life experiences and presented some of her newly written songs.

In the summer of 2017, Pandora participated in 'We Who Love the 90s', a sold-out summer tour alongside other artists such as E-Type and Aqua.

In 2021, Pandora participated alongside the Finnish rap trio Teflon Brothers in that year's edition of 'Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu', Finland's equivalent to Melodifestivalen. Their entry, [r16999995], reached second place on the Finnish charts in the lead-up to the competition, which also became its final result in the broadcast following the viewers' favorites, [m2136850]. [r16999995] was streamed 4 million times in Finland during the initial months, it sold platinum, and became Pandora's 21st gold record.

Pandora performed together with Sanna Nielsen in the 2025 edition of Melodifestivalen, as the opening number at the semi-final in her hometown of Västerås.
