In 1963, Siegel co-founded The Even Dozen Jug Band with Stefan Grossman.
Siegel became a staff producer and engineer for Elektra Records, where he founded and ran the Nonesuch Explorer Series.
Around 1971, he became the director of A&R for Polydor, followed by a stint as president of ATV Records.
In 1991, he left the corporate world to be an independent producer and musician.
