Guitarist and vocalist with The Barron Knights, Pete 'Peanut' Langford, born in Duram on 10 April 1943, awarded the B.A.S.C.A. badge for his contribution to British songwriting; since writing 'Call Up the Groups' in January 1964, he and Butch Baker have been responsible for 90% of the band's material; apart from performing and writing Pete manages and books the band's engagements; he has written a book "Once a Knight: The History of The Barron Knights". In the early 1970s also formed and managed a group called Peanuts, see: Peanuts.
