    Smoliansky was already in 1969 a member of the improvisation collective G.L. Unit and later in Sevda (with Bernt Rosengren and Maffy Falay among others) and Levande livet (in both of these bands he played darbuka). He was a member of the rock band Rost from 1981 and after this band disbanded in the mid-1980s, he was a member of Eldkvarn from 1986-1991.

    Smoliansky later left the music industry and moved to another business, but has since 2005 been reunited for individual gigs.

    He is the son of Nannie Porres and Gunnar Smoliansky
