About

French electronic producer, sound engineer, and studio owner.

Born: 28 January 1967 in Aix-les-Bains, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France.
Died: 19 June 2019 in Paris, France (aged 52).

Philippe Cerboneschi, professionally known as Philippe Zdar or just Zdar, was a producer, sound engineer and the owner of Motorbass Studio. He was a key figure of the 'French Touch' (aka Filter House) scene, first as member of Motorbass, then La Funk Mob and Cassius with Hubert Blanc-Francard. Zdar and Hubert Blanc-Francard met when Zdar was the assistant of Hubert's father Dominique Blanc-Francard at Studio Plus XXX.
His nickname Zdar is in reference to the actor Robert J. Zdarsky, also called Z'dar.

On 19 June 2019, two days before the release of Cassius's fifth album Dreems, Zdar died after accidentally falling from a window of his Parisian appartement. He was 52 years old. On the release day of Dreems, Boombass announced that it was Cassius' final album.
