Pom Poms

POM POMS was born out of the minds of Jessie Payo and Billy Mohler. Both California natives that had many lives in the music industry.
Their first song in the outfit was a retro dreamy throwback called “Betty” in 2015. It was with this band they would incorporate their love for John Waters, The Monks, Blondie, Devo, David Lynch, The Sonics and the Twilight Zone. When Mohler came up with the band name Pom Poms it was a done deal.
Pom Poms started quickly and moved fast for a baby band. Mohler and Payo put together the live show with some of LA’s top musicians and they debuted their first shows in New York including opening up for Kate Nash at the Bowery Ballroom.
Their debut album “Turn You Out” was released in 2017. Selections from that record were heard on “Lucifer” “Chicago Fire” “MTV’s Teen Mom” to name a few. They were in rotation on both 89.9 KCRW and 88.9 KXLU.
Payo and Mohler have been back in the trenches with a new record that mirrors the chaos of the post-apocalyptic 2020 year bringing sounds reminiscent of 90’s grunge to their 60s throwback sound. This past September 2021 they released "Stoned and Lonely". "Desperate Love" is set to release on 2.22.22.
