About

For nearly a decade, there’s been a commotion brewing out of the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis. Like the days of the touring circus act, an arena was erected, housing a sight to behold, and it has been steadily gaining in volume and spectators ever since. One peek behind the curtain and you’ll realize the display has amassed a ravenous following. This particular arena is not a big-top tent, though. It’s Hip-Hop. The dedicated audience members, dubbed Gampos, are glued to the spectacle. And at the center of it all stands the ringleader, Prof.

As creator and curator, Prof recognizes the value of the audience’s entertainment, and he’s never been afraid to invite new ideas to his stage. While his natural virtuosity is already captivating, these curiosities propel his live performances into their own league of attractions. A must-see show for all ages, old and young. However, though mastery and amusement may be the keystones of his exhibition, his successes have hardly been dependent solely on the performance.

As a songwriter, Prof is a tightrope walker. He balances on a fine line of duality between the parallels of inconceivable experiences and extraordinary fantasies. One song may be the memory of his arson father burning down his childhood home, while the next is about an evening involving 3 beautiful ladies, 2 bottles of whiskey and a llama. Factual or fictitious, there’s no end to the number of unique narratives, or deliveries, from this storyteller. Perhaps the hardships of his earlier life were the catalyst for the vividly imaginative artist he is today.

Prof has amassed an impressive catalog to date, with his self-made imprint, Stophouse Music Group. With three full-length albums, as well as three full-length mixtapes of exclusive material, he has already proven his dedication to creating. Prof has also shared stages and toured with an impressive array of rap artists, including Atmosphere, Yelawolf, Tech N9ne, Brother Ali, Evidence, P.O.S, Run The Jewels (El-P & Killer Mike), Murs, Fashawn, Andre Nickatina and more. He has also been featured on a number of large festival stages, including Soundset, Rock The Bells and Paid Dues. Yet, impressive as those artists and festivals are, Prof has always held his own ground, and he always succeeds in leaving with scores of new fans.
