About

Puppen was a hardcore punk band from Bandung, Indonesia which was formed in 1992 consisting of Arian 13, Marcell Siahaan (later replaced by Andry Rudal), Robin Malau, Ajo, and Prima Mulia.
They decided to disband in 2002.

Early career
The beginning of the formation of Puppen came from the initial formation of Robin “Low” and Marcell Siahaan. Robin brought in his death metal band mate, Jitmul, who did not last long in his involvement. In August 1992, Arian entered to fill in for guitar as well as provide vocals for the band Maximum Death Impact. Their meeting started when Arian became the committee for an art performance held by his school, then Robin performed with his band, Succubus, while Arian also performed with his music group Maximum. After the event, Robin called Arian and asked him to join Puppen. After the entry of Arian, they then asked Prima Mulian to fill in on the bass.

In the beginning, Puppen started by frequently performing songs from some of their favorite thrash metal and hardcore bands such as Prong, Sacred Reich and Biohazard, then they started writing their own songs. In the process of making Puppen's music, Arian usually had an idea for drums or guitar chords, then Robin developed it. Their first songs were "This is Not a Puppen Song" and "Freedom to Defecate".

Puppen started his career by releasing his debut mini-album entitled "This Is Not Puppe" in 1994, also marked by the joining of Ajo to fill the position of guitar, who contributed to filling the melody in the making of the mini-album. In 1994, Puppen performed at Pasar Seni ITB, which made it the concert with the biggest crowd during the last few years they have appeared on stage. With sales figures for the mini album "This Is Not Puppen EP" reaching 10,000 copies which were sold throughout the Bandung area, making it an achievement in their career for a mini album size at that time. Then offers of Puppen's gigs kept coming, especially outside Java for the first time in 1996 in Medan, North Sumatra. In the same year, Puppen appeared for the first time at the "PL Fair" which is an annual event for Pangudi Luhur students.

Puppen released their second album again, entitled Puppen was released in 1998, while making the second album, they had to lose both members, namely Ajo resigned because he was focused on other musical projects in 1997, followed by Marcell resigned in 1998 because he was more focused with his lectures. In the end, the official drum position was replaced by Andry Rudal after previously being filled by Marcell. Puppen re-released their third album, titled Puppen, released on MK II, released in 2000.
