Rae Sremmurd

Rae Sremmurd are an American hip-hop duo from Tupelo, Mississippi, consisting of brothers Swae Lee (Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown) and Slim Jxmmi (Amir Jxmmi Beasley). Signed to production legend Mike Will Made-It's Ear Drummer Records, the duo rose to prominence as part of the trap music movement of the 2010s, becoming one of the biggest hip-hop acts of the mid-to-late decade. SremmLife (2014), their debut, introduced their melodic approach to trap music, featuring intricate production and harmonised rap-singing over beat-heavy tracks. The album produced the hit single No Flex Zone. SremmLife 2 (2015) saw them reach mainstream commercial breakthrough, the album producing numerous hit singles and establishing them as major commercial forces. SR3MM (2018), marketed as a pseudo-supergroup release, continued their commercial success. Despite their prominence, both brothers have pursued solo projects and collaborations with other major figures, diversifying their output while maintaining their position in hip-hop. Rae Sremmurd remain among the most commercially successful hip-hop acts of their generation, their blend of trap production with melodic sensibility influential on contemporary hip-hop. They represent a significant evolution in rap music toward more melodic, harmonically complex production.
