Richard Summerhayes

Since 1994, Richard has been at the centre of the London tech house scene, having been 1 of the original founders of 1 of the UK’s finest ever, underground record stores Eukatech Records, and it’s host of associated labels. In this time, he built a strong following as a DJ, producer and label A&R (artists and repertoire), as he pursued a career in the global dance scene. He ran Eukatech Records, up until the Summer of 2000.

Made his mark on the decadent London underground scene, playing at the most exclusive clubs, like Fabric and The End. Held many residencies, including the ‘Deep South’ Friday night evening at the club Home.

Worked for the international record company UCMG, developing artists and projects, for its many labels. As well as A&R’ing his own labels Get Groovy (with brother Rob Summerhayes), Turtle Trax, and TT500.

Richard’s accomplishments and hard work in London’s cutting edge scene, earnt him serious respect from not only the world’s finest DJ’s like Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier, but also some of the most diverse and innovative producers of today, like Oliver Ho, Peace Division, Adam Beyer, Umek, Amaganations of Sound, Mr. G, Cristain Vogel, Ben Simms and Mr.C.

All of his compilation work and CD concept graphic design, has found critical acclaim in the U.K. press. Eukatech Records and its sister label, won the prestigious independent record label of 2001, from Muzik magazine.

His production work has seen him remix many musicians, including Sven Vath, Oliver Lieb, and Chris Liebing, for labels like Tide, Energy Industries, Eukatech and Get Groovy. He has collaborated on many projects with world renowned producer
Nils Hess, under many different alias such as Uridium and Engage. His own solo work has found much success, under his Spacecops guise, having released many EP’s on TT500.

His move to San Francisco was a surprise to many in London, but makes perfect sense, because he wants to take his experience, and apply it to a blossoming American scene. The next chapter sees him DJ’ing across the U.S., as well as building a domestic label. He has played all across the SF Bay Area, including Spundae, the DNA Lounge, and many of the bigger raves throughout the West Coast.

He continues to produce new material, coming from his own U.S.-based studio.
