    Italian singer and storyteller (Licata, March 21, 1927 - † Palermo, Sept. 20, 1990), great interpreter of Italian folk song, in particular Sicilian. She has had an hard life, began singing and playing in street parties and reciting at Teatro Stabile, Catania. In 1974 she took part to Canzonissima, her first TV music show. Since 1976 was accompanied by the musician and composer Mario Modestini who wrote for her voice La Ballata del Sale (The Ballad of the Salt) (1979), Buela (1982), Ohi Bambule (1987).
