Roskilde Spillemandslaug

Roskilde Spillemandslaug (Roskilde Fiddler's Society) is a Danish folk music ensemble and association formed 1976 in Roskilde after the first Roskilde Spillemandsstævne. From 1991 profiled as “Roskilde Spillemandslaug - Lirum Larum” on official logos. Roskilde Spillemandslaug is a part of the Lirum Larum folk music community in Roskilde, and together with Roskilde Folkedanserlaug they organized the annual Roskilde Spillemandsstævne.

Roskilde Spillemandslaug plays mainly traditional Danish and Scandinavian ‘spillemandsmusik’ (fiddler’s music) on violins, accordions, clarinets, flutes etc., and has well over 100 members (2024), many of whom play both in the large ‘spillemandslaug’ ensemble and in one or more of the affiliated smaller groups. Until 1982, the ‘spillemandslaug’ gathered in various places in the city. From 1982 to 1999 the activities took place at Roskilde Spillemandsstævne, from the fall of 1999 at Roskilde Spillemandsstævne.
