    The origins of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken go back to the Orchester Des Reichssenders Saarbrücken which was founded in 1937. In 1946 the orchestra was founded as Radio-Orchester Saarbrücken and was affiliated to the Saarland Broadcasting Company (later Saarländischer Rundfunk). In September 2007 the orchestra was merged with the SWR-Rundfunk-Orchester Kaiserslautern to the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern.
