    Rundfunkorchester Des Südwestfunks

    The Rundfunkorchester des Südwestfunks was founded on 9th of May 1951 (at first named "Großes Unterhaltungsorchester des Südwestfunks"), when the Funkorchester Kaiserslautern was merged with the Unterhaltungsorchester Koblenz. The orchestra was located in Kaiserslautern, principal conductor from the start was Emmerich Smola. When the Südwestfunk (SWF) changed into the Südwestrundfunk (SWR) in 1998, also the orchestra was renamed to SWR-Rundfunk-Orchester Kaiserslautern.
