American bandleader and singer.
Born : December 03, 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Died : May 03, 2011 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Brother of singer Louise Carlyle. He was married to singer [a12054328].

Russ Carlyle began his career as a nightclub singer in Cleveland since the mid-1930s, from 1936 to 1939 was lead singer of Blue Barron orchestra (also from Cleveland).
In 1940 he formed his own orchestra ("Russ Carlyle and His ABC Paramount Recording Orchestra") that interrupted his musical career in 1943 with the departure of Russ military service,returned after the Second World War, the orchestra gained in later years a commercial success.
Clayton joined his band in 1960, being discovered by Carlyle in St. Louis Missiouri. From 1972 to 1978, Carlye and Clayton performed as a duo for four months of the year at the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, then during the summer at Breezy Point, Minnesota and at Christmas time at the Petroleum Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the same decade, Calyle set up his own label, Fona Records.
He retired from the music scene in 1990.
Later on, he wrote often with songwriter Ivan Washabaugh and songwriter Mike Caranda.
Carbaugh was the music publisher used when any of the three songwriters worked together--associated with publishing companies: Carbaugh, Carbaugh Pub., and Carbaugh Music Co..
