About

The band Save Us was formed in 2000 in San Sebastián de los Reyes by Juan Diego Ortihuela Alonso, the group's guitarist and composer, after he finished writing the first songs. They began rehearsing at the Alcobendas music school with Diego Gutiérrez (drums), Darío Calleja (guitar), José Salvador (bass), and Juan Diego Ortihuela (guitar and vocals) as part of the project. The band continued until mid-2002 when the drummer had to return to his country due to personal issues and left the project. After some time, the group prepared to record their first demo with the collaboration of David Toledano (vocals), Miguel Ángel Ortihuela (bass), and Juan Diego Ortihuela (guitar), recording a demo with two songs. Due to work commitments, David remained focused on his project called Crienium, where he dedicated 100% of his time to the band. After a search in January 2004, Raquel Santamaría (vocals) joined the group. In May of that year, they recorded a demo with four songs, which they sent to various competitions, managers, and record labels, hoping that all their hard work would soon bear fruit. Due to work commitments, Raquel left the group, and we decided to take a short break to compose new songs. In September 2005, after several auditions, the following joined the group: Carlos Álvarez (Bass) and Roberto Martín Valderas (Guitar), Sonia Muñoz Caballero (vocals), completing the new line-up along with Rafael García (Drums), and Juan Diego Ortihuela Alonso (Guitar) Later, Jouny, a young drummer from Madrid, joined the band and helped us play several concerts. During this time, the band focused on various competitions, becoming finalists and placing 3rd in the Silikona Pop Rock competition. They were the most awarded group at the concert, receiving both the audience's choice for best performance and the prize for best concert. Following this, they won 1st place in the 2006 Electroshock competition, which led to a major concert at the San Sebastián de los Reyes festival in the municipal auditorium. After this successful performance, Sonia had to leave the band. In 2007 a drummer named Jesús Martínez joined, thus completing the band. For personal reasons, Roberto Martín leaves the group, and decides to play alone with a guitar and they begin a new search, in which a new singer named Ana Rochas appears, with whom a demo of 4 songs is recorded. In October 2007, after several successful performances, including a full house at Sala Live in Carabanchel, we contacted the record label SANTO GRIAL, and after a recording process with ups and downs, our first official album was finally released, hitting stores on December 1, 2007. Now the group is doing an extensive series of concerts throughout the Madrid community and going outside of it on a small tour presenting Te Quiero a ti. In 2008, the band decided to take a break, seeking new ideas and horizons. During this time, Juan Diego found himself embroiled in a series of emotional and personal setbacks that forced him to temporarily halt the project. Seeking new inspiration and financial opportunities, he joined several bands of various styles, always keeping his focus on Save Us. In 2010, he met with a great singer named Fran Melero, and together they began working on the songs for their second album. Recording took place from late 2010 to mid-2011, and the band sought a stable line-up. Miguel Ángel Ortihuela rejoined the project, and a drummer named Pol DQ completed the line-up. Due to time constraints, Miguel also handled production and assisted the group with substitutions and other tasks. Alex Parra joined the band on bass. At the end of 2011, "Llora mi alma" was released, presenting the band's latest album, following their positive reception during 2012. Following the 2012 concerts, the songs for their third album were composed in 2013. In July 2013, Ivan Alejo joined the band as bassist, and Alex Parra left for personal reasons. Recording for RenoWATIO was completed in August and released in September 2013. The album was presented on September 21st at Caracol, November 23rd at Excalibur, and more dates were scheduled for 2014.
