Simon Massey

Simon Massey was a member of a three-piece group called Trench, on bass, vocals and electronics, who played in Martin Russell and Simon Emmerson's Sonic Innovation #1 studio in the 90s. Mass and Leigh Griffiths, the other permanent member of Trench who played guitar, later worked on a studio-based project, The Pigmies. In the end The Pigmies tracks were released under the names ECT & Mass.

Simon Massey also did a lot of freelance engineering and production and stayed in contact with Martin Russell. Russell brought him on board with the Afro Celt Sound System after the release of "Volume 2". Since then, he has continued to work with Simon Emmerson on a number of projects.
