    British Jamaican sound system owner and producer. Born Kingston, Jamaica 1937. Died London, England March 2018.


    He ran a sounds system and record stall in Petticoat Lane market in London selling ska and blue beat 45s. He started his Collins Down Beat label during the rocksteady era of 1967.

    In 1968, Clancy also launched a very short-lived (one issue only) imprint, called Sounds Of Jamaica.

    After Collins Down Beat, Clancy places product with Collins Down Beat between 1969 and 1971 releasing several singles on the subsidiaries Collins Down Beat, Collins Down Beat and Collins Down Beat. His studio bands at this time were The Earthquakes, The Diamonds and The Dials.

    In 1971, Clancy moved to the Collins Down Beat label before establishing his Collins Down Beat label in 1973. By 1975 Clancy had wrapped up Collins Down Beat in favour of the B&C Sound and Nice One imprints.
