American drummer, b. William Eschol Dacus, 24 July 1911, Quinton, Oklahoma, USA, d. 9 October 2001. Inducted into The Western Swing Society Hall of Fame (1987). Starting in dixieland, he went on to become "the first drummer in country music" and is best known as a western swing drummer, especially for is work with Bob Wills from 1935-1941, when he left the music industry, returning in the 1970s-1980s.
