Rapper and slam poet from Berlin, active since 2003. Born in the German Democratic Republic, her family emigrated to West Berlin for political reasons while she was still a child. She holds a degree in Gender Studies and German Studies (Linguistics) and is currently (as of 2013) working on earning a doctorate degree. In addition to her musical and lyrical activities, Sookee is also active in journalistic and scientific work (i.e. as an author, interviewee or panel speaker) on various aspects of hip hop culture, with a strong focus on anti-racism, gender issues and anti-capitalism.
