Spark Arrester

Spark Arrester is a producer, DJ, record collector, record distributor, label owner, and event promoter based out of Blacksburg, VA. Spark Arrester is the backbone of the Boogieburg events which started in the early 2000's and continue to this day. He has performed at festivals and party nights across the US and has produced music featured on releases in five countries thus far. His years in college radio brought in listeners by the tens of thousands from around the world tuning in to exclusive DJ mixes by artists on record labels such as Tru Thoughts, Catskills, and Tummy Touch. Spark Arrester's sample-based beats (which include, but are not limited to, funk breaks, electro-soul, ghetto funk, instrumental hip hop, and Afro-Latin rhythms) have topped sales charts on download sites, have been featured on respected blogs, and have been found on releases alongside the likes of Mr. Scruff, Featurecast, Wax Tailor, Basement Freaks, Parov Stelar, and Skeewiff. His performances range from all-vinyl funk/soul/latin 45 sets to Ableton sets where he performs sets comprised totally of his own productions.
