Stara Lipa

Polish folk band formed in 1997.
The music of Stara Lipa (the Old Linden) is a unique combination of old traditional Polish music with Scandinavian or Western and Southern European elements. Genres such as songs and tunes from Kurpie, Mazowsze, Beskid ¯ywiecki, as well as Castilian cantigas, French, Flemish and Breton dances or Swedish sung prayers can be found here. However they are not played in their traditional versions but are enriched by the imagination and artistic sensitivity of the young musicians. Thanks to it those old melodies gain a new dimension, becoming a new, unique value.
Stara Lipa's characteristic, acoustic sound is achieved by using such exceptional instruments as: ocarina, skrzypica (Polish folk violin), saz, psaltery or hurdy-gurdy.
