Steadman was a British indie rock band, formed in Hastings in 1998. The band's original name was The Dharmas, but they changed the name after they cancelled their contract with the label Arista, and signed with lead singer Simon Steadman's own label, Freeloader Recordings. Steadman's first album, Loser Friendly, was released in the United Kingdom in 1999 and then released in the USA in 2000 by the Ozone Recording Company by which time Paul Phillips had left and was replaced by James Board. In 2000 they wrote and recorded 20 tracks to be their second album. The only tracks that surfaced from that unreleased album later on were "Early Warning, and Red". Ellie Wyatt (Violin, Keyboards & backing vocals) who had been with the band since the Dharmas days left and Steadman finally released a second album, Revive, in 2003, which was produced by Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider and had their musicianship endorsed by Sir Paul McCartney! Steadman comprised of Simon, Ellie, Russell, Dave, Paul, James and Chris.
