British classical double bass player, conductor, composer, and educator. Born in 1923 in Manchester, England, UK - Died in 1990 (or in 1998).
In 1942, he joined the Hallé Orchestra. He was a founding member of The Academy Of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Principal double bassist of London Symphony Orchestra (1958-1972, including five years as Chairman of its Board of Directors), before moving to North America, where he played with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra for five years and became founding Music Director of the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra (1986-1990). He taught at the Banff Centre For The Arts.
