French pop singer of Bulgarian and Armenian origin, born August 15, 1944, in Iskretz (Sofia Province) Bulgaria. Eddie Vartan's sister. On April 12, 1965, she married French rockstar Johnny Hallyday in Loconville (divorced on November 4, 1980). Together they had a son David Hallyday, who also became a singer. Johnny Hallyday and Sylvie Vartan were France's "Golden Couple" of their generation. In the 1960s, landing in Italy, she immediately won resounding success and was defined as the queen of "yé-yé". In 1984, she married the American actor and producer Tony Scotti.
