Mexican synth-pop/techno group. Allegedly the first techno music ever made in Mexico, active from 1981 to 1985.
Alex Eisenring was eager to adopt an electronic style for his former band, Queso Sagrado, however his partners disagreed. That's why in the same night of 1981, Queso Sagrado was being dissolved giving its last live show while Syntoma was being formed by himslef (as Alex Ice & Drinks) along with Silvia Candanedo (as Synthia Napalm) and Bernardo Gonzalez (as Bernardo Diz-Fraz), performing their first live show.
They first produced homemade cassettes to be able to publish their work and be heard, since in the country there was no commercial interest for the genre. They released only two singles and one album, today fundamental in the history of Mexican synth-pop: 'Syntoma' (1982), 'No Me Puedo Controlar' (1983) and 'Lost in Space' (1984), with a fusion of synthesizers and tropical rhythms that they used to call “electropical-urban”.
