Tadeusz Miller

Tadeusz Miller was born on September 28, 1915 in Lviv. He attended music school in Bojanów near Leszno, where he learned to play guitar and piano. He fought against Germany in September 1939. During the occupation, he was in Warsaw, active in the underground resistance. At the end of the Warsaw Uprising, he was badly wounded.

After the war, he moved to Szczecin. He started working in the Polish Radio Broadcasting Station as a clerk. At the urging of his wife and friends, he made his debut as a singer in front of the microphone. Soon he started appearing in the popular „Mozaika Radiowa” and other broadcasts.
In September 1946, Mieczysław Wejman, owner of the Poznań Gramophone Factory "Mewa" and talent scout heard him sing and arranged a record session. After signing an exclusive contract in January 1947, he recorded record for Wejman’s "Mewa" and "Melodje". In the period from October 1946 to July 1947 he recorded 63 tracks, scoring hits along the way. Due to the dominant tango in his repertoire, he was hailed as the post-war king of this musical genre.

His promising career was interrupted by a tragic motorcycle accident on July 23, 1947, probably returning from recordings in Poznań.
