Kobuko Takashi is a New Age, ambient and "environmental" (as it's called in Japan) music composer and sound designer, born in Japan in 1956. Outside of his albums, Kokubo has been instrumental in creating the sound identity of Japan, from the nationally-used mobile phone earthquake alert sound to credit card payment jingles. He's also the founder and CEO of Studio Ion, and an adjunct lecturer at the Open University of Japan.
