Taru Huotari

Taru-Elina Huotari is a Dutch-Finnish operatic singer (mezzo-soprano / contralto) and translator. She studied at Koninklijk Conservatorium, Den Haag and Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA). Huotari collaborated with Dutch-American visual artist and director Floris Schönfeld, joining his "Klingon Terran Research Ensemble" (KTRE) and participating in the preparation of ʼuʼ — the "first authentic Klingon opera on Earth," set in a fictional language spoken by the eponymous alien species in Star Trek. Tara performed one of the leading roles in the experimental opera, singing "Khaless" alongside "Master of the Scream" (narrator) Henri Van Zanten; she participated in the September 2010 premiere at the Koninklijk Conservatorium, Den Haag theater in The Hague, as well as several subsequent stages.
