Teddy Chisi

Teddy Chisi was a Zambian soul and funk singer popular during the 1970's in Zambia. Known as "the Singing Accountant" due to his day job as an accountant in his home city of Kitwe, Chisi's style melded funk and soul elements with the then popular Zamrock genre. Like many Zamrock artists of the era, he played in the cabaret circuit in the Copperbelt.. He worked with Zamrock bands, [a1270091] and the [a5620954] to provide backing for his vocals. The Fireballs eventually became Chisi's backing band for several of his albums and many of his live performances. Chisi released three albums and several singles during his career but eventually left the Zambian music industry in the early 80's as Zambia's economy declined and the Zamrock era came to an end.
