American saxophonist, vocalist, and bandleader. Born February 12, 1914, Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Died May 30, 2000, Santa Ana, California, USA. Beneke sang on the recording of many of the Glenn Miller Orchestra most popular songs including "In The Mood" and "Chattanooga Choo Choo". Tex Beneke and his Orchestra became one of the most successful of the postwar big bands as singers and ballads became more popular.
