About

The state of music in Southern California had been a sad one in recent years past. Countless OC punk bands and tough guy nu metal bands were the radio standards and emo/spock/bad metal bands ruled the hardcore scenes. The Accident came along as a reaction to this. Initially formed as The F.100's with Forrest Locke, Hank Whiteman, Toby Sterrett and Eddie "Cleveland" Bermudez (most being ex-members of Enewetak and Gehenna, 2 infamous hardcore bands from the early/mid 90s) the goal was to play kickass punk/rock and roll in the vein of Nashville Pussy and the Hellacopters. The F.100's practiced relentlessly for a good 6 months and played one show before Hank Whiteman, the singer and bass player, quit to pursue other band endeavors. This left the remaining members in search of a bass player and vocalist to fill Hank's shoes. Bass duties were quickly filled by Chip "Winger" Blake, a friend that didn't actually play bass, but had a kickass rock'n'roll attitude and was willing to learn. Hugh picked up the songs without a problem and Forrest temporarily filled in the vocal duties. The band continued on as F.100, but a consistent feeling to change the direction of the band was present. More and more musical influence from classic rock legends such as Mountain and Nazareth began to creep into the bands new material and soon, a whole new sound was found for the band, The Accident was born. After relocating to a new rehearsal studio shared with death metal heavyweights Chancroid, 4 songs were written in the new style, breathing a whole new life into the band. An instrumental 4 track recording was made of the new songs, while the search for a singer continued. A friend suggested approaching Brock Elmore, the guitar player from Chancroid, who had at one time fronted an infamous local Misfits cover band. No one knew if he could really sing, but his first practice with the band cleared up any doubts the band had. Brock was immediately handed vocal and frontman duties and the line-up was complete. Three months and a total of eight songs later, the band went into For The Record studios in Orange, California and recorded their self titled demo CD with Epitaph recording artist Paul Miner at the helm. During these sessions Toby's little brother, Myles, came in to lay down some guest leads. Little did the band know that the 17 year old kid could seriously kick ass. With the eight song debut CD under their belts, The Accident recruited Myles as the 3rd and official lead guitarist. With Chico's addition, there's no stopping the band from going up against the rest of the crap the "scene" has been serving up.
