The Art Of Lovin'

US psychedelic folk rock group formed in Newton, Massachusetts, by high-school friends who held together long enough to accomplish the release of a single album.. The band received generally positive reviews, drawing comparisons with the San Francisco Sound, vocalist Winnick in particular gifted with a set of pipes worthy of Grace Slick. The group was composed of Paul Applebaum (guitar), Johnny Lank (bass/lead guitar), Barry Tatelman (keyboard), Gail Winnick (vocal), and Sandy Winslow (drums). After signing with Mainstream Records the group recorded their lone album in New York at A&R Studios. With the exception of the band’s cover of a song by Tim Hardin (“(How Can We) Hang On To A Dream”), the group’s songs were written by Paul Applebaum.
