About

Rock group from San Antonio, Texas active 1965 - 1972
Formed in 1965 as the Monarchs, they quickly renamed themselves to Chayns due to drummer Robert Tunmer wearing a chain down his boot leg. In mid 1966, they used profits from a local battle of the bands victory to cut a self-released 45, "Live With The Moon." Sold at shows and on consignment at local shops, the record did not see local success until the band acquainted themselves with KTSA DJ's. The record peaked at #2 locally and was reissued in early 1967 by International Artists with the sides flipped. The group kept along for a few more years and released three more records, disbanding for good in 1972.
