About

The Fabulous Chefs were a R&B/Funk band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, active from 1969 through the late 1970's. Their only recording was a limited run single called Mr. Machine on the Pro-Gress label. It was recorded at Studio East in Milwaukee by engineer Tom Gress in the spring of 1974. The records were delivered and distributed in June of that year. They wanted 'The Fabulous Chefs' on the record, but "Every letter costs money" so that is why it's only credited to 'The Chefs'.

Jazzman Records remastered the tune from the original tape and the result was released on their Funk45 label in 2002.

Members included:
Brad Burton - Drums
Donald Burton - Trumpet
Robert Burton - Bass (Band Leader)
Michael Eccles - Vocals
David Edminster - Tenor Sax
Robert Fessenbecker - Alto Sax
Les Odom - Trombone
Francis Runte - Guitar

On March 27th, 1977 the Fabulous Chefs changed the name of the band to Black Frost.
