The Ikettes

About

The Ikettes were originally a trio of female vocalists formed to back up the Ike & Tina Turner Revue.

First known as the Artettes, the trio later changed it's name and began to record in 1960 ("A Fool In Love" with Tina Turner).
In 1965 the most well-known trio of Venetta Fields, Jessie Smith and Robbie Montgomery left the Ike & Tina Turner revue to record under the name The Mirettes. They were replaced quickly with P.P. (Pat) Arnold, Brenda and Patrice Holloway.
The line-up was flexible and many talented singers passed through the ranks of The Ikettes. At one point there were two line-ups, with the core of Fields, Smith and Montgomery touring with Ike and Tina and another trio doing promotional performances for their single releases.
