American vocal ensemble popular in the 1950s and early 1960s.
Stone formed Herby Stone And His Pebbles shortly after the end of WWII, which by 1947 had evolved into The Kirby Stone Quintette (later shortened to Quintet) became a Quartet and then simply a Four. The group appeared on TV and in nightclubs across the USA (including their own Kirby Stone Fourum club in New York City), and toured overseas.
The group charted once in U.S. with song "Baubles, Bangles & Beads", which hit #25 in 1958.
Members included: (They all sang vocals): Kirby Stone - Trumpet (1918-1981), Eddie Hall - Drums (1921-2012), Mike Gardner - Piano & Accordion, Larry Foster - Vocal Impressionist (such as Sammy Davis or Freddy Martin), Gene Thaler - Drums, Art Cow Eyes Engler - Saxophone, Bernie Doc Mandel - Bass, and Jimmy Hassell.
