About

The Miller Brothers' bluegrass band originally consisted of brothers Earl, Charlie and James from Buffalo Hollow, Kentucky (Whitley County). Earl, who played bass, was born in 1932, Charlie, who played guitar, was born in 1942 and James, who played mandolin, banjo, fiddle and bass, was born in 1946. They began their professional career in Connersville, IN around 1965. Between 1968 and 1974 the Miller Brothers issued 4 singles and 4 albums on the Baron, Jessup and Old Homestead labels. In the 1970s the band featured mandolinist Lee Nolan Faulkner, fiddler Herman Lewis and bassist Sonny Nelson. James, who went on to work with Lillimae and the Dixie Gospelaires, composed several songs for the Miller Brothers’ repertoire. Earl passed away in 1997, James passed away in 2009 and Charlie passed away in 2022.
