About

The Philisteins were an Australian garage punk band that formed in Hobart, Tasmania during 1985 (originally named 'The Cheesemongers'). In 1986 they adopted their new name, 'The Philisteins'. By June 1987 they'd relocated to Adelaide, South Australia. In November 1989 the band returned to Hobart, after which they then re-located to Sydney. In Sydney the band made little headway, and by the end of 1990 had relocated once again — this time to Melbourne. 'The Philisteins' disbanded in 1992, after which Guy Lucas, Ian Wettenhall & Stewart Tabert joined forces with Sean Greenway to form 'The Freeloaders'.
