The Rockets

American psychedelic folk rock band from Los Angeles, best known for containing some of the future members of Crazy Horse.

Danny Whitten, Billy Talbot, and Ralph Molina had come together in 1963 in the LA doo-wop group Danny & The Memories before migrating to San Francisco and becoming The Psyrcle, with changes in lineup and music style, before moving back to LA and evolving into the psychedelic folk-rock band The Rockets. Neil Young recruited Whitten, Talbot, and Molina to be his backing band in 1969 and re-named them Crazy Horse. Violinist Bobby Notkoff and guitarist George Whitsell reformed the band with a new lineup in 2013.
