The Swan Silvertones

Storied Gospel act founded 1938 in Coalwood, West Virginia. Originally a quartet called the Four Harmony Kings but changed the name to The Silvertones due to the existence of another group with a similar name. The group were given a daily 15-minute radio slot on a programme sponsored by Knoxville, Tennessee's Swan bakery and renamed the group The Swan Silvertones at the bakery's behest. Inducted, 2013, West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.
