Theo Angelopoulos

Theodoros Angelopoulos (27 April 1935 – 24 January 2012), was a Greek filmmaker, screenwriter and film producer. Angelopoulos is the most acclaimed and multi-awarded Greek film director and he is considered as one of the most influential and widely respected filmmakers worldwide. Regarding his own unique techniques and thematics became known as "The Director of History".

Angelopoulos died on Tuesday, 24 January 2012, several hours after being hit by a motorcycle while shooting his latest film "The other sea" (I Alli Thalassa) in the area of Drapetsona, near Piraeus.
