1960s soul group from Miami, Florida.
The first incarnation of The Third Guitar was an R&B band called The Soul Pleasers (one single in 1965). The main figure behind both bands was the vocalist and songwriter, Eddie Holloway. An energetic and charismatic band leader, in 1968 he attracted attention of producer Jack Taylor from NYC. At this point they renamed themselves The Third Guitar. The new name came about as guitarist Snoopy Dean was teaching Eddie to play guitar, in effect giving the band a "third" guitar, although Eddie was never to play guitar live. The band soon tired of New York, and that same year moved back to Miami. However, all this did not prevent them from releasing four singles for Rojac, Jack Taylor's label.
