Thomas Lang

Thomas Lang (b. 5 Aug 1967, Vienna) is a renowned Austrian drummer, drum clinician, producer and music educator. Lang is universally acclaimed for technical proficiency and has worked as a session musician with the world's leading pop, rock, jazz, and metal performers. He was a co-founder of a prog/avant-metal band [url=https://discogs.com/artist/11464307]stOrk[/url] and launched Muso Entertainment, a boutique record label and marketing/consultancy firm, with his wife, Elizabeth Lang. Thomas Lang resides in Los Angeles, California.

Taking up drumming when he was five, Lang spent years with private tutors before joining the [url=https://discogs.com/label/1209200]Vienna Conservatory of Music[/url]. After graduating in 1985, Thomas Lang began his professional career as a session musician, relocating to London, UK, in 1990. Lang cited Ian Paice, Stewart Copeland, Vinnie Colaiuta, Anthony Williams, Ringo Starr, Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Phil Rudd, Alphonse Mouzon, Lenny White, Billy Cobham, Peter Erskine, Omar Hakim, Max Roach, and Jack DeJohnette as some of his major influences. Thomas Lang is a multi-instrumentalist and plays keyboards, bass, and guitar in addition to drums.

In 1995, Thomas Lang released his debut solo album, [r=2473572], at Muso Entertainment, featuring Falco among guest vocalists. Most of his subsequent albums were self-released via MUSO Entertainment. Lang collaborated with Austrian guitarist and experimental musician Conrad Schrenk, ex-band member of Falco, on the '96 Some Buddy album, followed by the duo's [r=14100731] CD in 2005. His latest releases include a collaboration with Italian bassist Alberto Rigoni, Prog Injection (2019), and solo [r=14800302] (2019).

As a prolific educator, Thomas Lang released several acclaimed instructional videos and manuals, including [r=14203143] and Creative Coordination & Advanced Foot Technique 3xDVD. He completed one of the world's largest drum clinic tours in 2004, with over 220 clinics in 48 countries. Lang has organized multiple "Thomas Lang Drumming Boot Camp" events around the world since 2007 and runs "Thomas Lang's Drum Universe" online school.
