    He began exploring music in Eustis, Florida, his birthplace 1949, and made his musical debut with his first Band in junior high school, The Matadors. Later he attended the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama in 1968. Around his time he was introduced to Lionel Richie and from that moment, the nucleus for working together was formed. Thomas currently resides in Orlando, Florida. From 2000 to January, 2007, he served as Director of Music in his local church.
