About

Folk music singer, writer and editor Tia Blake (after her mother, Joan Blake) was born in Columbus, Georgia, 13 April, 1952, and grew up in North Carolina. In 1970, she worked for a book publishing company in New York City for six months, before moving to Paris where she in 1971 stumbled into a recording contract that resulted in a single LP of 11 public domain folk compositions, recorded at undefined. It was released in February 1972 by undefined (SFPP), under the title [m753165].

There was only one live performance in Paris to promote the album's release, and the next summer Blake left France, never to return. In 1976, she recorded a number of her own original songs in the Canadian Broadcasting Company studio in Montreal, where she was living at the time. In 1979 she worked with Daniel Lavoie, performing back vocals during the recording of the [m345960] album.

Tia Blake (Wallman) graduated from Smith College in 1989, and became a freelance writer and editor, living in North Carolina. She published two pieces in the UK literary magazine Granta, the second of which appeared posthumously. Christiana Elizabeth (Tia) Wallman died of breast cancer on June 17, 2015 at Manor Care in Pinehurst NC. She was buried next to her two brothers, Chris and Peter, in North Hatley, Quebec, Canada.
