Tidiani Koné played traditional instruments like the ngoni and the traditional flute before becoming a saxophonist in the 1960s when he joined the Orchestre De San.
Funded the Bamako Rail Band in 1970. In 1978 returned to his native region of Ségou where he supervised the Biton De Ségou.
